💭 Today’s Thought
There is always more than one way to do everything.
I know that. And yet, a lot of the tension in my life comes from me forgetting—or maybe resisting—that truth.
There’s a strong Stickler part of me (perfectionist, rule-follower, deeply opinionated on the “right” way to do things) that shows up most often at home. It insists to my husband and kids that we/they have to do things a certain way. Read: my way.
Lately, I’ve been practicing something different: starting from the assumption that there is more than one right way—and that my way isn’t necessarily the best one to suit each unique person and situation I encounter.
It’s not easy. But it is creating a little more spaciousness.
This week, notice where your “right way” might be getting in the way—and what becomes possible when you loosen your grip.
🖊️ Today’s Reflection
If you’re new to journaling, I highly encourage you to read Nancy Adler’s article: Want to be an outstanding leader? Keep a journal.
This week, find a quiet place and gift yourself 10 minutes to reflect on any of these prompts (or invent your own!):
What does “fun” mean to you, and where do you experience fun in your life?
Where are you too hard on yourself?
