💭 Today’s Thought
I’ll admit: this week has been packed — work, summer camp logistics, general chaos. I haven’t had much time (or brain space) to think about this newsletter.
Each day, I found myself asking:
“What do I do if I don’t have A Thought I feel excited about?”
At first, that question made me feel like I was failing. Like, who am I to send a newsletter if I don’t have something meaningful to say?
But then I tried a different approach. I asked myself: “What are my options — especially the ones my inner overachiever would absolutely hate?” (She’s rolling her eyes even as I type this.)
Here’s what I came up with:
Re-use an old issue
Don’t send one at all
Write about this exact struggle
All of these go against the invisible rules I’ve made up about how I’m “supposed” to do this. And yet… here we are.
Because sometimes, life gives you a hectic holiday week, and nothing goes according to plan.
So here’s what I’m learning:
Cut yourself some slack. Seriously.
When you’re stuck, flip the script. Ask yourself: What am I not giving myself permission to do? What would feel unexpected — even a little rebellious? Try that.
Now I’m curious: Where in your life could a little permission — or rebellion — to shake something loose?
P.S. Now you know that if I re-use an old issue of a newsletter, it probably meant I was stumped that week and/or needed to cut myself some slack. 😂
