💭 Thought: One question to take a quick pulse on your work/career

Did you know that for the low price of USD 2,500, you too can own a pair of Teletubby knee-high boots? 😂
💭 Today’s Thought
On a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1=not at all and 5=extremely), to what extent do you get to come in and do your best work every day?
This is one of my favorite questions to ask myself every few months or so. I call it my career “pulse check”. Bonus: it’s a lovely question to ask your direct reports, too!
Take a minute to reflect on it for yourself, and then keep reading. :)
Great. Now that you’ve got your answer, ask yourself one or more of the following questions to deepen your awareness of the gap between where you’d like to be and where you are now:
What does a [insert whatever number you came up with] look like?
If less than a 5 but more than 1, how come you didn’t say “1”? —> this is a great way to uncover more about what’s already working!
What would get it to the next number up in the scale?
What action(s) can you take to get it to that next number?
What support might you need to get there?
You have the power to shape your work and your world, every day.
It’s up to you to make “the 5” happen, and it can start with the smallest of actions. What’s most important right now is just that it starts. 💜
