💭 Today’s Thought
Courage is fear you ignore.
- Kristin Hannah, The Four Winds
Fear is there and it’s real. It always will be.
It’s what you do in its presence that determines the quality of your outcomes.
A question to ask yourself when you’re feeling afraid is: do you have the fear or does the fear have you?
Courage, action, and growth are all possible in the former, while the latter is paralyzing. Noticing where you are in relation to your fear can allow you to make a conscious choice about where you want to be.
P.S. If you’re looking for a great historical fiction book, I highly recommend The Four Winds (or really, anything by Kristin Hannah)!
🖊️ Today’s Reflection
If you’re new to journaling, I highly encourage you to read Nancy Adler’s article: Want to be an outstanding leader? Keep a journal.
This week, find a quiet place and gift yourself 10 minutes to reflect on any of these prompts (or invent your own!):
What are your thoughts or reactions to the quote, “Courage is fear you ignore.”? Do you agree? Disagree?
When have you been courageous? Make a list!
What fear(s) did you need to ignore or overcome in those moments?
How did you grow from those experiences?
