😆 Today’s Laugh
Dads, this one is for you — add these to your repertoire of jokes!
Did you hear about the man who fell into an upholstery machine? He's fully recovered.
What did one ocean say to the other ocean? Nothing, they just waved.
Sundays are always a little sad, but the day before is a sadder day.
If you see a crime at an Apple store, are you an iWitness?
How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh? 10 tickles.
💭 Today’s Thought
You’re at a fork in the road…
Perhaps you’re asking questions like:
Should I stay in this job or leave?
Should I make that risky career move?
Should I take on that new project at work?
Should I speak up or stay quiet?
No matter what decision you’re facing, I’m here to offer a game-changing decision-making tool:
Your personal values system.
Here’s an exercise to try:
Make a list of your Top 5 core values. Not sure where to start? Take a look at this list.
List out the various options you’re considering for the decision you’re trying to make.
For each option, ask yourself, What value(s) of mine would I be honoring with this choice?
Reflect: What insights emerge? What becomes clear?
There are countless decision-making frameworks and tools, some of which have fancy names. But one that far too few of us discover is the one we don’t even need to look outside of ourselves for: our own values.
What values guide your life right now? And are those the same values that you want to be guiding your life?
P.S. Supporting women to make decisions and take deliberate steps in their life that reflect their values — not someone else’s — is exactly the work I do 1-on-1 with my clients.
I’ve helped women completely reframe their relationship with their job, go from feeling shaky to calm and confident in how they lead their teams or work with their managers, and transform how they connect with their partners and children… all stemming from deeply understanding, embracing, and dialing up their core values.
If any of this resonates, you don’t have to go it alone. Hop on my calendar for a chat, to see if I can help.
🖊️ Today’s reflection
If you’re new to journaling, I highly encourage you to read Nancy Adler’s article: Want to be an outstanding leader? Keep a journal.
This week, find a quiet place and gift yourself 10 minutes to reflect on any of these prompts (or invent your own!):
What’s a time in your life when things felt just right? What does that experience signal about what values are most important to you?
What things in the workplace really drive you nuts? What value(s) of yours are being stepped on in those scenarios?
What is it to live in alignment with your values?
