💭 Today’s Thought
“A common concern that people raise about giving feedback is ‘What if I’m wrong?’ My answer is that you may very well be wrong. And telling somebody what you think gives them the opportunity to tell you if you are. A huge part of what makes giving guidance so valuable is that misperceptions on both sides of the equation get corrected.”
- Kim Scott, Radical Candor
Being “wrong” about something can quickly become about much more than discovering there are more perspectives than the one we hold…
“Someone has a different perspective than me” easily turns into “I don’t know what I’m doing”, “I’m not smart”, or “Other people won’t respect me”.
In essence, instead of just our thought being incomplete, we make the entirety of our identity wrong.
And as Kim Scott points out, the story we make up about what might happen if we’re “wrong” gets in the way of both another’s growth and our own when we decide to withhold feedback from others.
When you find yourself faced with a difficult conversation, ask yourself: Am I willing to let go of needing to be right in this scenario?
If not, there’s a great chance that the conversation will end up being frustrating for everyone involved.
To give you even more courage and perspective, you might also ask yourself, What am I choosing even over needing to be right? It could be things like:
Learning and growth (for myself or someone else)
Connection
Transparent communication
Honesty
Vulnerability
Stepping outside of my comfort zone
Where else in your life do you find yourself needing to be right? How does that perspective serve you?

The science behind inspiration and how to design more of it into your life
“Just like breathing, each of us has the capacity to let inspiration move through us every day if we give it a little air. With a bit of awareness, intention and ongoing practice, the muse can feel less like a flash that appears from time to time if you’re able to capture her, and more like an ongoing, steady glow that lives within each of us.” - Minnie Bredouw Click here to read more, and to get practical tips for nurturing creative practices each day.

“Through coaching with Anne, I’ve been able to truly reframe my thinking, gain confidence in myself and my abilities, and open up a world of options in my career, network, and relationships. I’ve considered and gotten jobs I wouldn’t even think were on my radar and thought outside of the box. I really was able to reflect on my inner self, wants, and needs, and work on reflecting those in my life.” - Carissa M.
