💭 Today’s Thought
There’s a saying that goes, “fish discover water last”.
They’ve spent their whole lives surrounded by it, gliding easily through it, yet they are barely aware of its existence.
The same is true when it comes to our innate talents and strengths. Like breathing, these are the things that come so easily to us that we barely notice we’re doing them. And we may only become aware when someone else points out to us what we do well.
My invitation today is to consider how you identify and call forth the strengths of those on your team. If you had to make a list of each person’s top 1-2 strengths, what would they be?
If you find yourself unsure, consider these questions, courtesy of Liz Wiseman and Greg McKeown in the book Multipliers:
What do they do better than anything else they do?
What do they do better than the people around them?
What do they do without being asked?
What activities or work do you just know they’re going to hit out of the park?
If it’s been a while since you’ve shared your observations with your team members, what could you do in the next 1-2 weeks to recognize and celebrate their strengths?
Bonus: How would you answer these questions for yourself? Whom could you ask for input?

Do you take yourself seriously?
When is the last time you had an opinion but didn’t share it with anyone because you didn’t think anyone would care? When is the last time you got really excited about an idea you had but then never pursued it because you decided it wasn’t good enough? When is the last time you started to make something but gave up before you finished because you didn’t think anyone would like it? - Sarah Cooper
If any of this resonates, read Sarah’s full article on the importance of taking yourself seriously.
See you next week!
