If you’re a Schitt’s Creek fan and haven’t yet seen this blooper reel, you’re in for a treat. 🤣 🤣 Caution: don’t watch in front of children.
💭 Today’s Thought
What you speak into the world becomes your world.
About 2.5 years ago, I walked away from a 12+-year career in digital marketing to move into the field of leadership coaching and development.
So often, I get asked something like, “How did you do it?!” And while I learned SO MUCH in that experience (more takeaways coming in future newsletters!), one of the most important lessons I like to pass along is:
Start talking to people about what you want to do and why. And do it before you think you have it all “figured out”.
I firmly believe that what you speak into the world becomes your world.
The more you speak about it, the more real it becomes…
The more you speak about it, the more support, connections, and opportunities start opening up…
The more you speak about it, the more you can accept yourself for wanting it in the first place…
Don’t wait — if there’s a change you’ve been wanting to make, find the courage to speak it into the world with 1-2 people you trust will support you.
And if you don’t have someone to share this with, send me an email and I’d be honored to listen. 🫶
🖊️ Today’s reflection
If you’re new to journaling, I highly encourage you to read Nancy Adler’s article: Want to be an outstanding leader? Keep a journal.
This week, find a quiet place and gift yourself 10 minutes to reflect on any of these prompts (or invent your own!):
What’s something you’ve been hesitant to speak into the world? What would it be like to share it with others?
If a Martian were to observe your daily conversations, what would it report back to its friends on the kinds of things you speak about?
What’s a time when you shared a want, dream, or need with others and it resulted in new opportunities?
📚 Today’s Read
We can learn so much about leadership by observing horses and the way they interact with each other. Check out this material from Jude Jennison to understand 3 different leadership positions within a herd (and team!), and how each add value. Which position do you naturally assume? Which feels least natural, and how might you adjust or compensate?
See you next week!
