💭 Thought: From “I have to” to “I get to”: a reframe
📚 Read: Say the Quiet Part Loud
😆 Today’s Laugh
This week, my husband and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. 🍾 So in honor of that, I pulled together some tweets about married life.
💭 Today’s Thought
When you find yourself thinking or saying, “Ugh, I have to….”
Think instead: “I get to…”
I use this quick reframe most often at the end of my days when I’m exhausted and my patience is wearing thin, especially for the shenanigans that children are experts at concocting. 😂 It’s a way to immediately tap into gratitude and experience more positivity around whatever I’m doing at the moment.
So instead of saying, “Ugh, I have to put my kids to bed.” — which has me feeling sorry for myself — I say, “I get to put my kids to bed.” Now, it feels more like a privilege.
Give this quick reframe a try for any task you dread doing or feel obligated to do and see what happens.

Great leaders say the quiet part loud. They openly acknowledge quiet concerns, what everyone is thinking. They’re pitch perfect in their response, and by doing that they build stronger, more impactful teams.

This is our charge as leaders. It’s scary as heck, but meaningful on a level that’s deeper than we can see with our eyes. Read this article by Judd Antin to unpack some reasons why we might choose to stay quiet, and how to gain confidence in saying the quiet part out loud.
See you next week!
