💭 Thought: The limits of leadership

💭 Today’s Thought
A team — or organization — can’t outperform the capacity of its leader.
As a leader, think about…
What holds you back? How do you get in your own way?
What bad habits can’t you seem to shake?
What thoughts tend to drag you down and keep you small?
What fears or worries take over when the pressure is up, and how do they drive your behavior?
The same things that hold you back will also (albeit unintentionally) limit your team, unless you do the work to expand your range and shift the underlying beliefs that guide your practices and mindsets.
Yes, this work is hard. Yes, it’s uncomfortable.
But what’s on the other side?
New horizons, not only for you but for everyone in your circle of care or influence.
Where will you dare to stretch?
P.S. I coach leaders on EXACTLY this — to expand their range so they can effectively unleash the potential in others. If this sounds useful to you, shoot me an email for a FREE, no obligations strategy session.
🖊️ Today’s Reflection
If you’re new to journaling, I highly encourage you to read Nancy Adler’s article: Want to be an outstanding leader? Keep a journal.
This week, find a quiet place and gift yourself 10 minutes to reflect on any of these prompts (or invent your own!):
In what area(s) of your life are you living out of obligation, and not purpose? How about vice versa?
What would you do if you had 10x the courage?

Before we’re actually facing imminent demise, while we are still very much alive and, hopefully, hopeful about our future , might it be helpful to ask ourselves, perhaps once a year: Am I ready to die?
…
And if not, why?
